At Michaelchurch Escley Primary and Pre School, we believe that pupils learn best through regular attendance at school.  Attending school every day enables children to access high-quality teaching, social interaction and the wider experiences that support their learning and wellbeing.

Remote education will only be used in exceptional circumstances when a pupil is unable to attend school, or when access to school is restricted. Remote learning is not considered an equivalent alternative to face-to-face education and will be used only as a short-term measure to help pupils remain engaged with their learning.

Where remote education is required, the school will provide learning that is closely aligned to the curriculum being taught in class. Depending on the age and needs of the pupil, this may include:

• Learning activities and resources provided electronically.
• Access to online learning platforms and educational websites.
• Printed learning packs if digital access is not available.
• Feedback from teachers to support progress and engagement.

For pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), reasonable adjustments will be made to ensure learning remains accessible and appropriate.

The school will work closely with parents and carers to support pupils accessing remote education and will make every effort to remove barriers to learning, including providing alternative resources where necessary.

Safeguarding remains a priority during any period of remote education. All online learning and communication will follow the school's safeguarding, online safety and child protection procedures.

Where a pupil is absent for an extended period due to medical needs, the school will work with parents, carers, healthcare professionals and the local authority, where appropriate, to ensure suitable educational provision is in place.

This statement will be reviewed regularly and updated as necessary to reflect current guidance and the needs of the school community.
